Clothes Stories: Perfect Plaid

Today I'd like you to meet Erin! Erin is the designer and maker behind ErinElsie.  Erin creates clothing and accessories using reclaimed, salvaged materials.

The name of Erin's label bears a homage to a very special lady- Elsie the name of her grandmother who instilled Erin's love of sewing, creating, and sentimentality.

Through her grandmother, Erin was inspired to simplify her life and only keep items that are special, made with quality, and will stand the test of time.

Erin's passion for ethical business practices is apparent as most of her work centers around vintage and reclaimed fabrics, keeping them out of landfills and repurposing them into something beautiful and new.

My one-of-a-kind scarf from Erin's shop was made of vintage Pendleton wool fabric (there are a few similar pieces in the shop!).

I love that, as a conscious consumer, I have access to independent designers like Erin whose methods really embody "slow fashion". It's amazing to know the story behind the pieces you wear and to be able to literally send emails back and forth with the exact person who made your clothing. It's definitely one of my "closet goals" this year to support small businesses and independent designers with my shopping dollars as well as my favorite "big" ethical stores.

Be sure to check out Erin's colorful, bohemian designs- Anyone looking for a gorgeous kimono for the summertime- and support a designer who's doing things right!
