Clothes Stories: Breezy Summer Style with Greenola

Happy May!

I've been looking for a white dress for several months- most notably due to the fact that Andrew and I are planning to attend Dinner En Blanc in our city... a "secret" flash mob picnic event modeled after the European tradition. I was thrilled to find this little number at my local quirky indie thrift shop- It's a fast fashion piece that I'm assuming was discarded because the fabric of the overskirt had shunk up, exposing the slip layer underneath. I snatched it up for $10, hoping that I could revive it and give it a new life in my closet.

A good wash, steam, stretch and iron, and I've got myself a breezy summer dress that's as good as new- and the perfect blank slate to add colorful accessories to for a fresh spring look!

I'm loving the spring line from Greenola (especially the acai and  bombona seed necklaces dyed with low-impact dyes and strung into colorful ropes of gold, seafoam, purple and peach) and wanted to share two of my favorite pieces from the collection. Mother's day, anyone??

First, the block-printed scarves. Unlike a lot of fair trade scarf options that have a rougher, handwoven texture, these scarves are silky-smooth and light as a feather. The colors are vibrant and they're large enough to use as a sarong- knotted around the waist over a swimsuit- but still light enough to use as a headscarf/turban. I'm wearing the Nibha square scarf in tangerine (it also comes in a gorgeous soft grey if you're more of a neutrals girl).

Meet the Uyuni necklace in brown and blue. It's the perfect amount of "statement" for me- not TOO chunky, but still a stand-out accessory. I love the rich, dark colors and the adjustable length (being petite and short waisted, un-adjustable necklaces often hit me a a super weird place. Does anyone else have this issue??
